Advent calendar … Calendrier de l’Avent

dot-blue

This year I decided for an unconventionnal Advent Calendar : a mixed style treasure tower and a new flag every day to count until Christmas!

The tower is large enough to house the 24 presents ;  the challenge in the morning is to decided which one to pick up …

The tower is made from recycled cardboard which I’ve covered with a patterned paper.

An Owl … Une chouette

I’m back on the blog … too much to do and to little hours in a day! :-(

The owl is made from a vintage woolen fabric and 100% cotton. I’ve used felt for the eyes, the beak and the feet and I added two buttons to complete the eyes.

Baby shoes ………………….. Chaussures pour bébé

dot-blue

I’ve been busy lately, making my first baby shoes. And while I was at it, I decided for fully reversible shoes.
I’m please with the result. Aren’t they adorable! I’ve done very tiny ones, just 9 cm / 3.15” long for 0 to 3 months old babies.
Here are the first 3 pairs, well I should say 6 pairs really!

A tall and slim patchwork doll

If you are like me and love fabric, I’m sure your drawers and craft boxes are full with pieces of fabric!

Over the years I have accumulated quite an impressive stock. Some are so old that they are Vintage!!!

And guess what : I saw all those beautiful new collections for spring and summer that I’m dying to get. But I try (and sometimes succeed) to be organised and a bit reasonable. No I won’t order any new fabric before I’ve used, not all – a life time job !- but some of what I have already in store.

And there starts THE question: which one shall I use? I have those that I liked only the day I bought them, and ignore them since then.

There are those that I love so much that I never use them, waiting for the right project for them- no idea when this will be.

And the rest.

I made a selection from the 3 groups (yessss) and ended up with 10 fabrics in the blue and green shades.

I cut a ‘slice’ of it: not too much of those I don’t like, and not too much of my favourite ones either! Then ironing of a stabilizer on each piece and there I go, assembling them all together.

All right, now I’m ready. First I decided to make a small pouch – almost a cube- to store small sewing items while on the Go, and a pincushion quite bigger than the tiny small we usually see, so we can have more than 20 pins!

After this I decided that instead of using what was left for a scissor case, I would prefer a rag doll. Well the piece of patchwork left was long and narrow, so the doll is VERY tall and VERY slim! It is in my Etsy boutique here!
